Great
Recruiting Success in the S.W.
Joint
action on May 10th brings amazing results
Almost
all clubs in the SW Region had simultaneous Open House days
on May 10th, complete with club logos, ads, news releases
and promos. They even got Governer Schwarznegger to proclaim
May 10th Lawn Bowls Day in Southern California. What a great
combined effort this was - and as a result the region has
close to 400 new signed up members from that one day already.
Mert
Isaacman, Laguna Beach Club and the rest of the SW's very
involved clubs and members are to be congratulated on this
fine effort and example. We can work together region by
region to reinvigorate bowling on the green.
Why
don't you conduct an Open House at your club or region too?
See the SW
Region website for full details of how to run a successful
one.
Come
bowl in the sun and fresh air
The
gentle outdoor sport anyone can play. Easy to learn, devilishly
difficult to be good. Each day's play gives your body and
mind a good work out.

All
you need is a flat pair of shoes and a will to get outside
to try bowls. Most clubs have free or low cost introductory
lessons. Thereafter it is one of the cheapest sports in
the country. Typical club memberships run about $100 per
year in the USA and very few clubs have green fees.
Regions
and Clubs
Find
a club near you today and set up an introductory lesson.
See Clubs. Then read up on the
rules and terminology before you go. See The
Game. Many clubs also support social (non-playing) members
or spouses, especially for the many other events throughout
the year.
Marketing
However
successful your local club is there will be a continual
need to recruit new members as others age out of the program
(even if that is often after age 90!). See these hints and
tips for marketing your club.
They have all been field tested in US clubs...so we know
what works and what doesn't.
