Having A Natural Green Lawn
Do you want a natural green lawn at your home? If so, then listen up.
First off, you need to learn to do the right things right for your lawn. That means cutting properly, fertilizing properly using natural fertilizer treatments and watering properly. Here are some basic lawn tips on how to keep that thing green without jacking up the environment in the process.
1) use a natural fertilizer. Natural means it is not synthetic or man made. Natural lawn fertilizers can be found at pretty much any big box hardware store. You can use biosolids or naturally found elements. I like milorganite and I also like the scott’s natural products. Just make sure you follow the exact instructions on the bag. That is really the biggest problem homeowners have with their lawn… they don’t follow the instructions on the back of fertilizer they buy.
2) water regularly in summer: you need only to water about 1.5″ per week which means setting a normal sprinkler out 3 times per week for an hour in each area. you have to be consistent with it!
3) finally, is lawn aeration. if you want something that is natural, then you have to aerate your lawn. aeration is a process whereby a machine punches holes all throughout the turf and lawn. these holes help with air flow and water and nutrient penetration to the root system of the lawn. this makes the roots thicker, thus thickening the entire turf area. A thicker lawn will resist all other pests that hit it, including weeds, insects and fungus. Lawn aeration is the most important thing you can do for your naturally green lawn!
